Working with is a plain language way to talk about coordinated interdependence. It means people who could act otherwise choose to align actions to achieve a shared end or objective.

Working with is an observable, measurable concept and, with some care, it’s reliable. But it’s got some downsides. It can invite binary thinking in situations that are inherently mixed. It can personalize what is situational or structural. It can mistake working with as agreeing with. Every definition will have advantages and disadvantages. Keep these in mind as you use working with.
